In general, smartphones have made our lives less difficult. They can help us navigate to a restaurant and they keep us linked to our social media accounts and mail. If they are so helpful, how come so many people get irritated with smartphone users? Probably because there are some annoying habits they develop. If you are guilty of any of the habits listed below, you may be unintentionally annoying those around you.

Texting and driving

Although texting and driving is prohibited in most states, people still do it. This behavior is not only troublesome, as it makes you less of an attentive driver, it can bring about car accidents. These accidents can just be fender benders or they can result in fatalities. Send a text to your friend telling them you will be five minutes late is not worth the chance of hurting yourself or someone else. If you can’t resist the urge to text, try turning your phone off when you are in a vehicle.

Paying more attention to your phone than your friends

Smartphones are fantastic tools. They’re like little computers that you can hold in your hands, however they are not more intriguing than your friends or family members, are they? Many people are so addicted to their smartphones that they’ll text messages, read emails, and scan the news while seated at lunch with their friends. Or they’ll download a new ring tone while chatting with family members at the dinner table. This isn’t risky behavior, but it is incredibly annoying. No one wants to play second fiddle to your cell phone. Check your stocks when you’re alone.

Noisy keyboards

When you type your text messages, does your phone spit out a series of beeps, boops, and clicks? If so, it is advisable to turn the sound off on your keyboard. No one around you really wants to hear you typing away the text version of “War and Peace.” So shut off that keyboard sound. The people around you in the checkout line, next to you on the bus or trying to work in the neighboring cubicle will enjoy it.
