Here’s a simple truth: Most everyone who has a smartphone uses it to view and send e-mail messages. But nobody seems to like their mobile e-mail applications. Tech company Orchestra, though, wishes to change this. The company just recently released Mailbox, its new e-mail client for your iPhone. The application is receiving positive reviews.
Features
The big difference between Mailbox and other mobile e-mail programs? Mailbox feels like it has been made for the way people really use their smartphones. Think about the way you save, archive or delete messages with Mailbox: You perform everything by swiping. If you swipe your message to the left, you save it for a later time. When you swipe it to the right, you archive it. When you swipe to the right while holding, you’ll delete an e-mail message. Finally, if you swipe to the left while holding, you’ll open a new List screen. From here, it is possible to move messages or label them.
Viewing
Mailbox also allows you to view e-mail messages in a manner that is practical for smart phones. For example, Mailbox initially displays just the important section of an email, hiding such unnecessary bits as signatures. But if you tap an email, it opens into its expanded state, one which shows signatures along with the “To” and “From” fields. Reviewers have said that composing and sending messages through Mailbox feels more like sending a Tweet than a traditional e-mail. Again, this is as it ought to be. Mobile tech users are Twitter savvy. There’s even a nice texting feel to the application. Users who tap messages or conversations won’t see standard e-mail messages. Instead, they’ll access smaller chat bubbles.
To Do
You can also use Mailbox for the iPhone like a form of e-mail to-do list. Here’s how this feature works: After reading a message, place a time stamp on it. This time stamp controls when the message reappears in your inbox. To illustrate, when you get a message that has a very low priority, you might place a time stamp that puts the email back in your inbox in a month. If you need to respond to the message quickly? Mailbox can schedule it to reappear in your inbox the next day. The new iPhone version of Mailbox is certainly worth a look. It’s possible you’ll find that it’s the mobile e-mail app that you’ve long been seeking.
