Typing on your laptop while you’re flying across the country isn’t much fun. But sometimes it can’t be avoided. What can be avoided is the back pain you so frequently experience after your plane lands.
Back Pain
The Lifehacker Web site recently offered a key tip for easing back strain while computing in mid-air: Avoid hunching. That sounds easy, but it’s often difficult to not hunch when you’re working while traveling by air.
The Solution
Lifehacker recommends you angle your laptop so your neck stays in a natural and relaxed neutral position. Your objective is to lineup your laptop screen with your eye level. To accomplish this most effectively, you’ll need a laptop stand. You can get these fairly cheaply, with quality ones retailing for about $20.
Stands
But suppose you don’t have a portable stand and you’re in the air? Well, as Lifehacker says, there’s always that Skymall catalog. Roll up it and tuck it under your laptop. Now you have a makeshift laptop stand.
