Smartwatches are garnering a lot of press right now. The Samsung Galaxy gear smartwatch is already strapped to some consumers’ wrists. Rumors claim that Apple is set on developing its own smartwatch, the iWatch. But what features should a smartwatch ideally incorporate?
Aware
Thomas Claburn, an editor with InformationWeek, recently listed his personal must-haves for smartwatches. And, we must admit, his suggestions make sense. For starters, Claburn says that smartwatches should act as sensors. Which means they ought to be able to determine the temperature, measure your body’s vital signs and show you how close you are to that new Indian restaurant.
No Charging Hassles
A smartwatch shouldn’t be a hassle to charge, either, Claburn said. Ideally, smartwatches would charge themselves as we walk move about our day. If not, we should be able to charge them just by setting them on a charging plate.
Affordable
Claburn also says that smartwatches shouldn’t bust our budgets. Smartwatches should retail for about $99. That’s much more affordable than the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch that retails for a whopping $299.
